What kinds of questions do I see?

Three variants, mixed by the day's seed: "What is the capital of ?", "Which country has the capital ?", and "On which continent or region is ?". Each has four options and exactly one correct answer.

Where does the data come from?

The 195 internationally recognised countries from ISO 3166-1, the same list used by Daily Flag Quiz and the rest of the portfolio. Capitals come from the canonical dataset; we filter out anything missing a capital before generating.

How is the puzzle determined?

Deterministically from the date. Everyone playing /daily/2026-04-26 sees the same ten questions in the same order with the same answer options. The seed mixes the date with the salt "geo".

When does a new puzzle drop?

Every day at 00:00 UTC. The archive at /daily keeps the last 90 days; older days roll off the end.

Do I need to sign in?

No. Your progress for today is saved in your browser; nothing is sent to a server.

How are the wrong answers chosen?

For capital and country questions, we sample three other countries from the same dataset and use their names or capitals as distractors. For region questions, we always show the four-region option set sampled from the canonical six.

Why do my friend and I get the same puzzle?

The day's puzzle is computed from the date, so two players opening /daily/2026-04-26 always see the same ten questions — easy to compare scores.

Can I share a single past day?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Every /daily/YYYY-MM-DD URL is permanent and serves the same questions to anyone you send it to.
